Coiled tank

Coiled tank

Coiled tank is one of the most practical equipment for producing hot water for domestic and industrial use, which generally consists of a cylindrical tank and several copper pipes (coils). In designing and manufacturing Coiled tanks, according to its installation location and required features, Coiled tanks are produced in different types, the most important of which are standing and horizontal coiled tanks. Seven Industrial Group; The manufacturer of Coiled tanks and other central heating installations will provide a comprehensive guide to selecting and purchasing Coiled tanks.

What is a coiled tank?

Coiled tank is a set of cylindrical body and several copper pipes (coils) in which hot water and steam coming out of the boiler enters the coils and heats the cold water entering the cylindrical tank. Coiled tank is actually a new generation. It is a double-walled tank, both of which are used to supply hot water to buildings and industrial environments. Of course, there are differences in the structure of these two sources, in other words, the main difference between a double-walled tank and a coiled tank is the existence of two nested cylindrical tanks in the double-walled type. However, for the coiled tank, only a cylindrical body is used and the temperature is exchanged with the coils.

How coiled tank works

The hot water and steam produced by the boiler enter the copper pipes or coils installed inside the cylindrical body with the help of circulating pumps. Cold water of city piping enters the tank through one-way valves installed on the body of the tank and due to the temperature difference between the water inside the pipe and the tank, the temperature is exchanged. As a result of the tank water colliding with these pipes, their temperature increases to more than 50 degrees, and finally they are ready for consumption through the outlet valves. The water in the coils is returned to the boiler when the temperature is lost again and this cycle continues.

Types of coiled tanks

Depending on the characteristics required in the heat sources, when producing coiled tanks, they are designed in different types. In a general category, they were divided into two groups: standing coiled tank and horizontal coiled tank. The difference between these two types of coil sources is in the installation of their cylindrical body and they are not different from other components. Depending on the location of the tank and the amount of space available to place the tank and their required dimensions, one of these two types of coiled tanks can be selected.

In another grouping and according to the installation and placement of the coils, this tank can be divided into two groups: helical and U-shaped coils.

U-shaped coiled tanks

As the name of this group indicates, copper pipes are installed in the form of the letter U in the tank, the number of pipes is determined as needed and in most cases will be more than one pipe. One of the main reasons for using this type of coils is to increase the performance and efficiency of the device. So that after blocking or causing damage in a pipe, there is no disturbance in the operation of the tank and hot water and steam can flow in other pipes and supply hot water.

Helically coiled tank

Unlike the U-shaped type, in a helically coiled tank, the hot water flow is present only in a coil-structured tube, which heats the cold water in the tank. One of the biggest disadvantages of this type of coiled tank is the failure of the device in case of damage to the coil pipe. Because only one coil with a helical structure is installed inside the body, as a result of its breakdown or blockage, it will not be possible for hot water and boiler steam to pass through it.

Water to water and steam to water tank

Depending on how the energy and heat required to increase the temperature of the water in the coil are supplied, they can be divided into two groups: water to water and steam to water. As the name implies, the water-to-water tank uses the hot water to absorb the energy needed to heat the water in the coil, and if steam is used for this purpose, it is steam to water.

twin coil tank

In this type of tank, as its name implies, two coil tanks are used. The reason for using these two tanks is because one of the tanks is connected to the solar heating system and the other to the boiler. With this solution, if the solar energy is not enough to heat the water, then the boiler can provide the required heat.

Coiled tanks components

In order to implement the operation of coiled tanks mentioned above, it is necessary to use different components and equipment in the structure of coiled tanks. The main components used in these tanks are:

Cylindrical body

Cylindrical body is one of the most important components of the tank, in order to increase its resistance to pressure, sediment and corrosion, galvanized sheets are used for it. Dimensions, capacity and volume of coiled tanks are determined according to the place of installation and use, and therefore there is a lot of variety in it. Hulls made for coiled tanks are installed on the base in two standing and horizontal positions.

Galvanized sheets and sometimes black steel are used to design and build the tank body. These sheets have a high resistance to temperature and pressure, and therefore the safety factor of the device will increase to a desirable level. It should be noted, however, that unlike galvanized sheets, which are stainless and corrosive, tanks made of black steel sheets may rust over time. So it is necessary to sandblast first and finally use epoxy paints.

Coils or copper pipes are other components of the coil tank whose job is to pass hot water and steam through the boiler to eventually lead to the transfer of its temperature to the cold water in the tank. The coils are installed in two types of U-shaped and Helically in the body and their number varies.

Coiled tank inspection valve

One of the best advantages of this group of heat tanks is their easy repair. For this purpose, a valve is installed on the body in the coil section to easily wash and repair the coils and check the general condition of each one.

Advantages of coiled tank

Extensive use of this group of heat tanks compared to double-walled tanks has many advantages, the most important of which are the following options:

·        Easy tank repair due to having only one tank and its easy separation after bursting and failure

·        Easy tank washing

·        Low heat loss due to the use of multiple copper pipes inside the tank

·        Variety in the tank (standing and horizontal) and its wide application in environments with different dimensions and capacities

·        Failure to interrupt the hot water production process due to failure of one of the coils

Design and construction of coiled tanks

Seven Industrial Group is a manufacturer of coiled tanks and expansion tank with the latest standards, which offers the design and construction of this equipment by a team of experienced engineers and technicians. Very high diversity in the products of this collection and having a guarantee and quality assurance of products are the most important features of Seven Industrial Group. The experts of this collection are ready to provide advice before buying a coiled tank through the communication channels mentioned at the bottom of the page.

Coiled tank price

The price of a coiled tank is determined based on several important factors, the most important of which include the capacity of the tank, the type and number of coils (U-shaped or screw), the body material and the quality used in all stages of tank construction. To inquire about the price of the coil tank, you can contact Seven Industrial Group

How to install a coiled tank?

Depending on whether you have selected a standing or horizontal tank, you must specify a site to install the coil tank. In order to increase the resistance of these tanks to impact and shock, completely fix their base on the ground. Finally, you should place the one-way cold water inlet valve at the bottom of the tank and the hot water outlet valve at the top. The experts of Seven Industrial Group, in addition to producing coil tanks, perform all installation steps in compliance with the necessary standards.
